For over 30 years Amerex has been synonymous with high quality stored pressure fire extinguishers. Amerex also produce high quality pre-engineered fixed fire systems designed to protect kitchens (KPS) and industrial applications (IS).
Amerex offer a complete hazard analysis of your vehicle or plant so the system can be tailored to meet your requirements. It is designed to detect and suppress fires efficiently and quickly, minimising any damage to equipment and protecting personnel from a hazardous situation.
Being a pre-engineered system it can be installed in various configurations; manually operated fire suppression system (no automatic or detection capabilities), warning only (detection but no fire suppression) and a full install (both manual and automatic operation of the fire suppression system).
The fire system can and has been installed on vehicles ranging in size from the smallest forklifts to the largest excavators. The Agent Cylinders, containing either ABC or BC Dry Chemical, are available in the following sizes: 13lb, 25lb and the largest 50lb (a smaller cylinder is under development). These can be installed singularly or in multiples dependant on vehicle size and protection required.
The Amerex Vehicle Fire Suppression System alerts the operator to the fire situation by an audible/visual alarm and depending on the system design; discharge is accomplished by either manual or automatic actuation.
Wire-braid protected hose or stainless pipe delivers the fire-fighting agent through strategically located nozzles covering the predetermined potential fire hazard areas. The time proven application of the dry chemical extinguishing agent provides protection against hazards such as hydraulic fluid, bearing lubricants, electrical cable insulation, methanol, compressed or liquefied natural gas (CNG/LNG), gasoline and diesel fuel fires, as well as solid combustible debris accumulated in normal service. The “connect and protect” modular system design assures a no fault ease of installation and virtually eliminates false alarms.
A typical installation would locate a control panel and a manual switch within the cab or operator area. An additional switch or switches should be located externally on the item of plant to allow actuation of the system without having to climb on or in the machine. The control panel would then actuate the agent cylinder(s). Within the hazard area would be located spot thermal heat detectors or an equivalent fire heat detector. All these components are connected together using colour coded cables with water resistant plugs.
The Amerex Fire System can be installed on new equipment, retrofitted on existing equipment and even when plant is sold or scrapped many of the system components can be removed and then re-used on new installations.
